A car expert has revealed a little-known car key trick, which some modern cars have, that can keep you safe
The car expert said all you have to do is press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for five seconds to activate the feature
According to the expert, in some cars this will cause all doors to lock except the driver’s door.
The Tik Toker explained: “Girls who often ride alone, make sure to set this feature. Take out the car keys and press the lock button and unlock button on the key at the same time
Hold for 5 seconds. The function to open only the left front door has been successfully set.
“Press the unlock button again, only the main driver’s door can be opened, the other three doors cannot be opened.”
The engine expert said this nifty trick can help protect cars from robbers as they can’t enter the car through the back door.
In the video, the expert revealed a number of car key hacks to her followers that can help you in “critical moments” — including how to start the car if your car key is dead.
She emphasized that many cars have a backup system that solves this problem, and that you shouldn’t “spend your money hastily on repairs.”
Instead, all you have to do is hold your key fob against the ’emergency detection area’, which is usually located just below the steering wheel.
After you did this, the engine expert told you to ‘pull the brakes and hold’ and your vehicle should come to life.
Be sure to check the manual before trying these tricks as not all cars are guaranteed to have them
But be sure to check your car owner’s manual before relying on the trick.
The video has been viewed more than 150,000 times and users flooded the comment section with gratitude.
One wrote, “Wow, I’m going to try this,” while the other said, “Amazing.”
Meanwhile, some users pointed out, “These are for specific car models. Not a standard for all cars.’
The TikToker has a number of other helpful car videos, from life-saving tips to how to fix your car for less.
It comes after a week of chaos for car owners in London following the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ), which forced drivers with non-exempt cars to pay £12.50 per day.
Protesters opposed to the plan have damaged and vandalized cameras across London, spraying them with paint, covering the lenses and even vandalizing the posts on which they stand.
Some owners of modern classic cars, such as late-era Minis, early Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 106 Rallye and even Harley Davidson, say they are “targeted” by the expansion, and some say they will refuse to pay the cost.
