Motorcyclist Troy Beinlich tragically died after crashing while participating in the Racefoxx 1000 km, at the famous Hockenheimring in Germany.
The 21-year-old German suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash on Saturday, when he fell from his bicycle and two riders were unable to avoid a collision with him.
The 271-lap race was immediately canceled and a rescue helicopter was immediately deployed, along with police and emergency services, but Beinlich died at the scene.
An investigation into what happened will now take place, with Mannheim’s traffic department working with an expert to reconstruct the tragedy to determine the cause.
An official statement from the race organizers read; ‘Unfortunately a serious accident occurred during the race.

‘Despite all the efforts of the emergency services and the circuit’s safety staff, help for our fellow driver came too late. We are dismayed and infinitely sad that our sport has shown its ugly side.
‘Out of respect for the families and friends, we cannot and do not want to provide any further details at this time. Please understand and give the family members time and space to grieve. We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends.”
The race was the first of the Deutscher Langstrecken Cup and part of the German Endurance Cup, but after the incident all remaining races on Saturday were stopped.

The Hockenheimring circuit is rich in history and hosted F1 Grand Prix’s from 1977 to 2006, before it began alternating with the Nürburgring.
Over the years, British drivers including Nigel Mansall (1991 and 1992), Damon Hill (1996) and Lewis Hamilton (2018) have tasted victory at the Hockenheimring circuit.
While Michael Schumacher achieved four first places on the circuit during his illustrious career.
However, there has not been a German Grand Prix as part of the F1 calendar since 2019.
After the tragic cancellation of the weekend, the next German Endurance Cup race is scheduled for May at the Nürburgring.
