Motorcycle robbery crew gets some instant karma after messing with the wrong guy in Brazil

Dramatic video footage captured a man targeted by motorcycle muggers turning the tables during a street robbery, grabbing the gun and shooting dead one of his would-be assailants.

The brutal confrontation, which left a 16-year-old dead, took place in the southeastern Brazilian city of Guarulhos on the evening of August 4.

CCTV footage shows Otávio Ribeiro saying goodbye to a colleague before walking home, when he is stopped by two suspects riding a motorbike.

The photo shows Ribeiro, held at gunpoint, handing his cell phone to the teenage assailant before lunging forward, disarming the attacker and knocking him and his accomplice to the ground.

Otávio Ribeiro was seen on surveillance camera handing his cell phone to two robbers on a motorcycle before the 36-year-old robbery victim disarmed one of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, and shot him on August 4 in Guarulhos, Brazil. The teen was rushed to a local hospital, where he died

Ribeiro then fires multiple shots at the teen as he runs away, the footage shows. Ribeiro manages to shoot the teen’s accomplice, who can be seen picking up the motorcycle and driving away.

The teenager, who suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder and left arm, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died.

São Paulo state military police seized Ribeiro’s cell phone and wallet, as well as two other cell phones stolen earlier that night.

Ribeiro was later found at home and told police he had fled because he feared for his safety. He was taken to a local police station, where he was questioned and released.

The teenage robber’s murder came just two weeks after a 17-year-old boy was run over by a bus and killed after stealing a 71-year-old man’s cell phone in São Paulo.

The boy, whose name has not been released, can be seen on surveillance footage walking up to the victim on a street corner and grabbing his phone.

The teenager started running and was hit by the bus at the intersection.

At least 158,150 thefts and 137,891 mobile phone robberies were reported in the state of São Paulo in 2023, according to an annual report by the Brazilian Security Forum released in July.

In the state capital, an average of 1,781.6 mobile phones per 100,000 residents were stolen or robbed.

A total of 937,294 mobile phones were stolen or robbed throughout Brazil last year, an average of 107 times per hour.
