Motorcyclist is hit from behind by a P-plate driver and remains injured on the road

A dramatic video has surfaced of a motorcyclist being hit from behind by a P-plate driver.

Dash cam footage shows the driver standing in the middle of the road waiting to turn right at a T-junction before a white Hyundai Getz crashes into him.

The impact sends the rider back flipping and colliding with the road.

The incident took place between Maud Street and Basil Street in Mayfield West, north of Newcastle, on Thursday afternoon.

An oncoming blue Mazda narrowly avoids running over the rider as it passes from the opposite direction.

Miraculously, the rider was able to walk away from the terrifying crash without serious injury, but his motorcycle was largely destroyed.

The driver of Hyundai was also unharmed, but the car sustained damage to the front.

It is unclear where the accident occurred and whether charges have been filed.

The video posted to Dash Cam Owners Australia’s Facebook page was flooded with comments from users.

“I hope the biker was okay,” one user wrote.

“He’s lucky he’s still alive, some drivers really need to wake up!!” said another.

“How lucky it didn’t end up under that blue Mazda,” wrote another.
