As it turns out, old-fashioned dish soap and paper towels can save your stained Tupperware.

Even though you might think that putting it in the dishwasher will make it clean – since it goes in at high heat – many of us are disappointed when the container still looks dirty.

The TikToker begins the video by holding up a dirty and oily Tupperware box as she says, “So I’m going to teach you something my friend’s grandmother taught me a long time ago, and it has to do with containers that look like this .

“So I washed this all out, but it still has the stain.

“So let me show you what I do.”

The mother then says, ‘First take a piece of paper towel and I’ll pull off a few pieces.

“Then you’re going to fill this with a little bit of hot water, that much,” she shows off her Tupperware box halfway through.

She continues: “Then you take a little bit of soap and you just put a little bit in there.

“You grab your paper towels and toss them in.

“And you’re going to put your lid on and make sure it’s tight because you’re going to shake it.”

The TikToker then closes the plastic box tightly and shakes it back and forth, creating a soapy mixture.

A mother, who visits @ariganja on the social media site, started by half filling the bowl with hot water and adding some washing up liquid

She then related how after putting the soap in, she tore up paper towels inside the container

She recommended that if your lid isn’t closing properly, shake it over the sink to avoid a mess or spill.

While she didn’t reveal how long she shook the Tupperware box, she showed off the finished product – which looked clean and grease-free.

And social media users are impressed by the hack, with many of them saying they wish they knew about it sooner.

One person wrote: ‘How!? What is this black magic!? Also thanks!’

And another said, ‘What????!!!!!!! Thank you!!’

A third remarked, “Tupperware witchcraft!”

While a fourth said, “This is so cool because this has happened to me all the time and I’m throwing them out.” Will try this.’

One frustrated person said they spent ages trying to scrub their plastic jar to no avail. They wrote, “Literally just finished scrubbing a container of red pasta sauce stains and gave up…algorithm is algorithm.”

And another said that they have tried and tested this hack themselves and wrote: ‘Can confirm this works. I don’t even use that much water. It’s so great!’

But one user jokingly said, “Bold of you to assume we all know where our lids are.”
