Mother’s dark past emerges after heartbreaking video of her crying while baking her own birthday cake went viral – as her ex-husband makes bombshell claims

The dark past of a mother who went viral with her heartbreaking video of her sobbing as she baked her own birthday cake has been revealed.

Elizabeth Teckenbrock, 29, from Tampa, Florida, shared a clip on TikTok showing how hard it is to be a single parent, and it has been viewed more than 45 million times.

But her ex-husband Andrew Cormier, 37, made a series of bombshell claims in response to her video, saying he has full custody of their two young girls, barely sees them and “dates them all the time.”

He claimed she had previously been arrested for fraud and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Teckenbrock was taken into custody in August 2023 for third-degree grand larceny and taking cash or deposits with intent to defraud.

She responded to Cormier’s claims, accusing him of being “extremely abusive” before admitting that she had no custody of their children but was seeing them.

Teckenbrock uploaded a video earlier this week of herself baking a birthday cake with tears streaming down her face.

“As a single mom you make your own birthday cake on your birthday so your babies can be happy singing to you,” she captioned the clip.

But her ex-husband Cormier responded with his own video on the platform on Friday, making a series of bombshell accusations.

“Right now, I have full custody of our children,” he said. ‘This is our parent agreement. As you can see, I have time to share with the kids all weekdays and weekends during academic holidays.

‘People who follow her praise her and show her how strong she is and how great she knows, she is doing well, she is really not a full-time mother. She barely has her children. She goes out all the time.”

Teckenbrock made another video on Saturday in which she admitted to not having custody of their children and not being the “perfect” mother.

“Andrew is extremely, extremely abusive and has always been extremely abusive,” she claimed.

“First I’ll start with the detention, okay, because that’s what we’re all talking about. I see my children, I see all my children.

‘I’m the one who organizes their birthday parties. I’m the one who puts them to bed. I’m the one who does everything until he pulls them away.

“And the reason is the similarity you guys saw online: when I first kept him out of the abuse, I had no resources, no money, nothing, he was a doctor.

‘He said, ‘If you sign these papers, nothing will change when you see them, and I won’t ruin your life. I’ll leave you alone.’

‘I still saw them, even now. Like he put this on there.”

She added: “I’m not a perfect person, not even a little bit, I would never say I’m not a perfect mother I hope, like no one would say they’re a perfect mother

“When I got divorced, and especially when I left my husband, I was drinking, or I was through it, I mean. I felt like I was literally trapped in an abusive marriage for six years.

“Since I was 16 years old and became a mother, I have dedicated my life and my time to being a mother.”

Teckenbrock insisted the incident started after she went out with her friends for a birthday dinner after her daughter’s recital.

She said: ‘It was a late dinner at nine o’clock and I said to him after the dance recital, I’m going to dinner, but I’m still free for the girls the rest of the weekend.

‘He said, “No, you’ve decided to go out for dinner, you won’t see them on your birthday”.

Teckenbrock and Cormier divorced three years ago, and she said this was the first anniversary she celebrated without her extended family.

‘This is my first birthday alone. Normally I would have family… but my whole family is far away this year, and I live alone in Tampa,” she said. Newsweek.

‘But when I was making the cake I got emotional and started crying, which I didn’t expect. It was an emotional day. I was so upset at the time.

‘To be honest, I don’t like cake. It was all for them.”

Teckenbrock’s Linkedin shows that she is the founder of ‘Fear to Fierce’, a non-profit organization ‘dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence through support services and advocacy, empowering women to resist fear and embrace their inherent fierceness’.

She attended Purdue University, where she earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree, according to her Linkedin. She now lives in Tampa, Florida.
