A mother who starved her baby after her ‘controlling’ boyfriend demanded their newborn live on sunlight instead of food has been convicted of neglect.
Oxana Mironova, 33, had allegedly followed the views of her raw food blogging partner Maxim Lyutyi, 43. He is facing a separate trial accusing him of torturing his newborn baby.
The child, Kosmos, died of ‘pneumonia and emaciation’ after the couple failed to feed him properly, the court was told.
Mironova admitted her guilt and expressed remorse for the death of her son, who was less than a month old, a court spokesman in Armavir, Russia, said.
She was sentenced to two years of ‘penal labour’ after being convicted of neglecting the child and failing to fulfill her motherly duties, causing Kosmos to starve to death.

Lifestyle trainer Maxim Lyutyi, 43, wanted to raise the newborn on prana eating – a diet that involves people going for long periods without food and water and ‘feeding on the sun’, it was claimed.
He is accused of forbidding Mironova to breastfeed the child.
“He wanted to experiment with the child, feed him purely with the sun and then let others know that you can eat like this,” says Oxana’s mother Galina, who accuses him of leading a “cult.”
‘I was against my daughter joining this sect. I felt everything and told her that Maxim was crazy, but she didn’t listen to me.
‘Oxana lived there like a guinea pig. Each time she became colder towards me….
“She was his slave.”
Shot media have reported that he eats meat while in pre-trial detention, with his favorite dish being pasta and stew.
A video shows him being held in court earlier this year on suspicion of child torture.

Lyutyi (photo) has written books on methods of “cleansing” the body
Lyutyi is known as a ‘radical raw food fanatic’. He is the author of methods to “cleanse” the body.
He and his partner founded a club called ‘The Living Man’, aimed at helping Russians ‘improve their health and solve personal problems’.
He is described as a ‘master of working with body and consciousness’ and offered ‘healing’ to his clients.
Another relative of Mironiva said: “Oxana told me she was afraid of him. She often wanted to leave him, but he stopped her…
“He wanted to raise (his son) to be a man who only eats the sun.”
Oxana’s cousin Olesya Nikolayeva said: ‘He forced her not to feed the baby.
‘Her friend believed that the sun nourished the baby.
“Oxana secretly tried to breastfeed the baby, but she was very afraid of Maxim.
‘How is it possible to feed the baby with sunlight?
‘A baby needs its mother’s milk.’
He had delivered the child at home and refused to let Oxana go to a maternity hospital.
Finally, they decided to take the emaciated child to the doctors, but it was too late and the baby died on the way.”
