A mother who gave birth in a train toilet before hacking her son to death with scissors has been sentenced to three years in prison by judges in Russia.
Judges in Moscow heard how the healthy boy had been stabbed 44 times shortly after his birth.
The 25-year-old, unnamed in local media, carried out the brutal killing on a Lastochka electric intercity train, which is widely used across Russia.
Local media reported that the baby's body was found between Andronovka station and Nizhegorodskaya station, both in western Moscow.
An investigation revealed that she had placed “a bundle of paper” in the baby's mouth “which prevented his free breathing.”

The footage shows the mother telling the police how she committed the murder.

She was found guilty of murdering her newborn son eight months ago, in April.
Judges said they took the mother's emotional state into account when sentencing her to three years in prison.
Prosecutors said the judges “took into account the seriousness of the crime committed, as well as the personality of the suspect.”
Forensic medics told the court the baby was born perfectly healthy but died after being stabbed 44 times.
The Moscow Prosecutor's Office for Interregional Transport said in a statement on December 1: 'The Lefortovo District Court in Moscow has convicted a woman of killing a newborn baby on an electric train.
'She was found guilty of committing a crime under Art. 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of a newborn child by a mother).
“The court ruled that the 25-year-old woman, while pregnant, while riding an electric train along Moscow's Central Circle, independently gave birth to a viable child.
'She decided to kill the newborn and stabbed him 44 times.
“Taking into account the seriousness of the crime committed and the personality of the defendant, the court sentenced her to a prison term of three years to be served in a colony of the general regime.
“The state's prosecution in the case was assisted by the Assistant U.S. Attorney for Southwestern Transportation.”
