Mom shares easy mac and cheese hack for kids that people are calling “damn smart” and a “game changer.”
One mom shared a time- and money-saving snack hack for hungry kids, and fellow parents call it “damn clever.”
South Carolina’s Violet Ann Whitlach posted her trick on the Facebook page Mom needs a prescription!! to help other parents who may be in the same situation as them.
She explained that her daughter loves mac and cheese and added that her favorite is an expensive brand that often gets lost because she never eats the whole box.
So the smart mom buys a family box, which she cuts into cubes and freezes so she can hand out small portions when her daughter is hungry.
Violet Ann suggested to fans that they cut up a container of macaroni and cheese and take them out to keep in the freezer
The mother explained her trick and wrote: ‘Not a recipe but some kind of hack.
My little one LOVES Mac n cheese and asks for it every day, so on top of everything else I cook.
“I make a box for her every day, but as a child she never finishes the whole box, so always garbage.”
She went on to say that her daughter’s favorite brand of mac and cheese is Stouffer’s, but it usually costs around $8 a pack, so it can get pretty expensive.
Ms Whitlach advised people to keep the cubes in a freezer bag so they were easily accessible when needed
The smart mom said it saved her a fortune after she made a batch for her kid, but it would never be eaten and wasted
“I’m tired of baking it and then it spoils before it’s done, mainly because it’s not cheap,” she explained, “[so] I came up with a solution.
‘[I] Bought a Stouffer’s Mac n cheese for the whole family and cut into several cubes and frozen.
“So now I can take out 2-3 cubes and microwave for a few minutes and she’ll have a fresh bowl of Mac n cheese in minutes and the best part… no waste!”
The post quickly gained more than 7,000 likes, 500 comments and nearly 1,000 shares.
Hundreds of people rushed to share their admiration and gratitude to Violet for her “genius” idea to save money and reduce waste
One person wrote, “This is smart as hell.”
