I get shamed by other moms for being naturally beautiful and having a good figure – they’re just jealous because I don’t need lip filler to look nice

A woman who says other mothers shame her for her naturally “good looks” and “figure” thinks they are just “jealous” of her.

Amee Gleadell, a caterer from Lincoln, says she has always taken pride in her appearance and takes time every day to pick out a beautiful dress and jewelry.

She is a mother to her 15-month-old son Arthane, but claims other parents judge her at baby groups and are not kind to her.

But Amee, 35, isn’t letting it damage her confidence and believes she’s just ‘jealous’ because she doesn’t need ‘lip fillers’ and her ‘hair done’ to look beautiful.

She wants to stop judging other women’s appearance and said: ‘I take good care of myself.

‘I’m very natural at it. I don’t wear much makeup. I am a natural mother, I have a good figure, I wear dresses and sandals. It makes me feel better.

‘Mothers judge you during baby classes. I get looks, I think it’s jealousy. People judge me for not getting my lip fillers done or not getting my hair completely done.”

After Arthane’s birth, Amee thought it was important to be in good shape for her son.

She said: ‘I wanted to chase him around the park. Many mothers sit with their coffee and cake.

“I thought, ‘I’m not going to be that mother.’

Amee regularly goes to the gym, goes swimming with Arthane and does yoga every morning to stay fit.

She added: ‘I eat really well and I usually have glitter toes.’

Amee says she never goes out in shabby clothes, something she thinks other mothers judge her for.

She said: ‘I don’t go out in sweatpants. I don’t know why people don’t want to look good or why they don’t care.

‘But you don’t know what’s happening in the lives of others. We should just help each other.”

Amee says she is also judged for breastfeeding her son in public — including on the bus, on a bike and at the arcade — and at work.

She manages to combine motherhood with her busy work, running a catering company on wheels. It often means she’s cooking while her son sits on her hip.

She said, ‘I take my child to work. I breastfeed him there. Pervy men stare at you. Other mothers judge you.

‘Other people say, ‘She breastfeeds and cooks’ and judge me for that.

“I’m in control, he won’t burn. It’s normal: I don’t have to cover up.’

Amee said her husband, Stephen Cefai, 28, a cartoonist, has always loved her “bubbly” personality.

She said: ‘I’m enjoying it. I want to live forever – I know you can’t, but I have a zest for life.

‘I want to be a great mother and partner.’
