A mother whose 18-month-old was allegedly nearly kidnapped by a man in a park has revealed that the stranger looked at her and said nothing as she chased after him.

Julia, a mother of five, had taken her children to Centenary Park in Yinnar, southeast of Melbourne, on May 5.

She had seen her 18-month-old daughter jump on a dug-in trampoline when an unknown man allegedly snatched the child and started walking away.

The 30-year-old ran after the man and managed to free her daughter from his grasp, but said he just looked at her “dead in the eyes”.

Julia, a mother of five, had taken her children to Centenary Park in Yinnar, south-east of Melbourne, on May 5 when her 18-month-old daughter was reportedly nearly abducted

‘He said nothing. He just looked dead into my eyes,” she said Seven news.

“But even when I said, ‘Can I help you?'” (he said) nothing, he didn’t say a word.’

The mother claims the man saw her young daughter playing and fled to the nearby toilets after chasing him.

“I just grabbed her legs and yanked her back. I’m pretty sure I hurt her doing that, but I just wanted to get her off him,” she said.

The toddler suffered cuts to her arms and legs when her mother frantically snatched her away from the man.
