The mother of Israeli hostage Naama Levy has written “I speak to you in my heart every day” in a heartbreaking letter to her daughter on her 20th birthday in captivity.
Ayelet Levy Shachar, 50, wrote that she “cannot unsee” the graphic images of “the monster” dragging Naama by her hair and forcing her into a car on October 7.
These images were the most harrowing images of the Hamas terror attack, which caused global outrage – but 260 days later, 120 hostages are still in Gaza.
Dr. Levy Shachar wrote in an open letter to her daughter in the New York Post: “My Naamonet, I speak to you in my heart every day. Do you hear me?
‘When I close my eyes, I see you standing in front of me, smiling. Do you see me? Every day I sit with my thoughts and am overcome with unspeakable fear and pain. I wonder: how did we get to this point? And today that pain is even sharper.’

On Saturday evening, Dr. Levy Shachar led thousands of people through the streets of Tel Aviv with giant posters of her daughter and balloons to mark her birthday.
The procession was both uplifting and heartbreaking as the crowd sang in unison, “Nothing is more important than bringing Naama home.
‘Now is the right time to bring her home. Accept the deal to take her home.
‘Without Naama, this country is not complete.
A special protest march was held through Tel Aviv to mark the twentieth anniversary of hostage Naama Levy
On Saturday evening, Dr. Levy Shachar led thousands of people through the streets of Tel Aviv carrying giant posters of her daughter and holding balloons to mark her birthday.

Although a ceasefire still seems far away, special forces managed to rescue four hostages two weeks ago, including 26-year-old Noa Argamani.
Naama’s father, Yoni Levy, 52, told the Daily Mail that they drew strength from the fact that the freedmen had seen people fighting for them in captive news reports.
The engineer said, “This is why we have all this media and all these signs and posters.
‘Today she will know that this is her birthday, and maybe, just maybe there is a chance she will see this.
“Even if it’s just one percent, that’s enough to do it, to give her hope and optimism.
“There was so much love, energy and hope during that march. We’re sending this to her on her birthday.
“I hope she gets something from this somehow, to give her the strength to carry on and be strong.”

Cupcakes with birthday candles were then passed to the crowd and balloons were released as they were lit.

Family members also completed a mandala sketch after learning that Naama had sketched the geometric shapes in captivity
When asked what his message to Naama would be if she could hear him, Mr Levy turned to his daughter and said: “First of all, we are sorry. Sorry it took so much time.
‘But on the other hand, I want to give you the energy. To give you the energy to continue and survive with your wisdom – to continue and fight.
‘Don’t break. We are doing everything we can to complete this and bring you back to us.
“So please, keep fighting.”
Naama’s brothers, Amit, 21, and Omri, 11, as well as her sister Michal, 16, were also at the meeting.
Last month, gruesome footage was released of the moment Naama was captured along with four other teenage girls.
She was on mandatory national duty as an unarmed observer for the IDF alongside Liri Albag, 19, Daniela Gilboa, 20, Karina Ariev, 19, and Agam Berger, 19, on October 7.
Each of their mothers made the painful decision to release the horrific three-minute Hamas Go Pro video in a desperate attempt to get politicians to fight for them.
It shows the young women limping, injured and bloodied while their hands are tied. They are lined up against the wall by Palestinian terrorists taken from the Nahal Oz base as unarmed observers during their mandatory National Service.
“You dogs, we’ll step on you.” people shout at the girls. Another terrorist points at the girls and calls them “Sabaya,” an ancient Islamic term that can mean female sex slave, before leering at Karina in her sniffing pajamas and saying, “You’re so beautiful.”
The shocking images led to renewed attempts to reach a hostage deal, but Hamas rejected the proposal.
