Morningside break-in: Brisbane mother forced to hide with her young children in a bedroom during terrifying home invasion
A mother had to barricade her door to protect her young children as a gang of teenagers tried to break into her home.
Robyn Sinclair, who lives in Brisbane’s southern suburb of Morningside, hid in her bedroom with her husband and their two children, aged five and seven, as a group of youths tried to kick down the door in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“They were coming through the house, shouting for keys and looking for our cars,” Sinclair told Nine News.
‘My husband, my children and I were locked in our bedroom, leaning against the door to keep them from kicking it in.
‘So much force was used that the door frame was broken and the door handle was pulled out of the wall.’
The terrified family called 911 three times during the attack.
“We kept shouting at the intruders that the police were coming, hoping that would deter them,” Mrs Sinclair recalled.
“It just spurred them on.”

Doug Newnham, Mrs Sinclair’s husband, said he saw the “shadow of a knife” when he was confronted in the hallway by a group of masked teenagers.
“It’s scary today. It’s going to be scary tomorrow, it’s going to be scary for a while, I think,” he told the Cairns message.

‘I wouldn’t have cared if they robbed us blind, as long as everyone is safe.
