A mom experienced her own ‘glitch in the Matrix’ after being caught in the exact same spot in front of the camera twice – in photos taken ten years apart.

Her husband sent Leanne Cartwright a Google Maps photo of her standing at the intersection with a bag in her hand.

The mother-of-one thought it was a teasing email showing how the tech giant caught her on camera in April 2009.

But the 41-year-old was “stunned” when he told her that nine years later she had appeared in the exact same spot, to the same street plate, in an almost identical shot.

The first image shows trouser-clad Leanne standing at a traffic crossing on the corner of Victoria Place with a tote bag in her left arm and another bag slung over her shoulder.

Strangely enough, a second photo, taken in August 2018, shows her standing in the exact same position with two bags in the same style – the only difference being her outfit.

Earlier this month, the official posted the ‘bonkers’ images on Facebook [September 12th] where she says she has been compared to a “time traveler” because of the “one in a billion” coincidence.

Leanne Cartwright, 41, was amazingly photographed in the same spot in Carlisle in 2009 (left) and 2018 (right), with a nearly identical pose nine years apart

Leanne, from Carlisle, Cumbria, said: ‘It’s like standing still in time.

“I’m standing on the exact same pavement and I still have a bag on my shoulder. It’s so funny but so bizarre.

“People probably think I’m a time traveler. I could be the only person in the world they caught in the exact same place almost ten years later.

“I saw the car for the first time, so when it was published, we went to see it. Everyone thought it was pretty funny and I didn’t mind at all.

“Richard found the second one while he was at work because he was looking for the first. He was going to send it to me and then he realized I was back on track.

“When I saw it, I thought it was really bizarre. I hadn’t even seen the car then, so I was stunned.

“We told everyone at work and they thought it was funny. Thought I’d put it on Facebook because I don’t know anyone else it’s happened to.

‘I’ve had a lot of likes. Someone said I’m a time traveler.. It was funny reading the comments.

“I will look out for the car in the future and when I see it I have to jump in the same place. You never know, maybe next time I’ll be there. It’ll make me laugh when I walk past it.’

Leanne says the first photo was taken on her one-mile walk to work around 8am, while the second was during a lunch break – and discovered by hubby Richard in January 2019.

Unfortunately, she did not appear on the most recent Google Street View shot in September 2020, as she was working remotely during the pandemic.

However, Leanne is back at the office two days a week and says the uncanny coincidence will make her smile “every time she walks across the intersection.”

The self-proclaimed “habitant” said she wouldn’t wear any of the clothes she’s wearing now in the first image, joking that the comparison shows how her personal fashion has changed since 2009.

Leanne, who lives with 41-year-old Richard and son Zach Cartwright, five, has received more than 700 likes and 20 stunned responses to her post.

One commented, “That’s actually crazy and cool at the same time.”

Another agreed, saying, “Sorry, that’s really insane!”

A third asked, “Isn’t this one of those one-in-a-billion odds?” Awesome!’

One observant user said, “Bag in the same hand and also on the shoulder.”

Leanne replied, “I’m a total creature of habit.”
