The horror of a family holiday when four children and their mother are injured after an elderly woman crashes her Mini Cooper into their caravan, trapping a child between the car and a barbecue.

Four children and their mother were rushed to hospital after a 76-year-old woman lost control of her Mini Cooper and crashed into the terrace of a caravan where the group of five were sitting.
The drama unfolded just before noon on Saturday at the Toowoon Bay Holiday Park on the central coast of New South Wales, just over an hour’s drive north of Sydney in the middle of school holidays.
A woman suffered leg injuries, while a child has a broken femur and another suffered abdominal injuries.
The other two children were also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The Mini Cooper (pictured) was being driven by a 76-year-old woman before she ran onto the curb and lost control of the car.
Initial reports suggest that the elderly woman’s car pulled up to the curb and drove for some distance along the curb before colliding with the group of five.
One child was pinned between the car and a barbecue, while others were thrown some distance from the impact.
Two young children were taken to Children’s Hospital in Westmead in serious but stable condition, one of whom had to be airlifted by the Westpac rescue helicopter.
Two girls were taken to John Hunter Hospital, also in serious but stable condition.

The elderly driver is helping police with their investigations and will undergo mandatory blood alcohol tests.
NSW Police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash.
The caravan park is a favorite for young families on vacation for its beachfront accommodations and proximity to numerous pristine beaches.
NSW schools are scheduled to start the new year in just over two weeks on January 31.
