NSW Minister for Customer Services and Digital Government Jihad Dib said choosing a baby name can be a daunting task for parents and a one-time decision that shapes a child’s identity and establishes a connection to family, community and culture.

“While so many special and culturally significant names are beginning to appear in the top 100, by 2022 nearly 11,000 bubs were also given unrepeated names,” he added.

Blacktown and Dubbo recorded the most births in 2022 with 718 and 608 respectively, while Auburn and Orange trailed just behind with 537 and 513.

Oran Park saw the highest jump in births with a 90 percent increase in babies born since 2012.
