Mosque visited by members of royal family was attended by members of ISIS ‘Beatles’ and should have reviewed anti-extremism funds, according to a Prevent report
A mosque that has been visited by William, Harry and Meghan should have reviewed its anti-extremism funding after it was linked to jihadists, according to the Prevent report.
The report highlighted how the Al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Center in west London was attended by suspected terrorists, including members of the ISIS execution gang nicknamed the ‘Beatles’.
The centre, which has received at least £100,000 in funding from Prevent, was frequently visited by the Duchess of Sussex in 2018. She went to a soup kitchen several times there as her staff were out front to help victims. of the Grenfell fire. The Duchess also championed a cookbook that raised funds for the center’s Hubb Community Kitchen.

In November 2018, an investigation by the Henry Jackson Society, the counter-extremism think tank, linked the mosque to 19 jihadists.
Now William Shawcross, former head of the Charity Commission and author of a long-awaited review of Prevent, has expressed his own concerns about Al-Manaar, saying he is “disappointed” that its funding of the anti-terror program was not “reconsidered.”
Although Al-Manaar is not named in the report, it can be identified through footnotes, which include an invitation to an event it hosted.
“While the institution has stated that it rejects and condemns…terrorism, with such coverage raised…I am disappointed that the gravity of these concerns was not sufficient for the [organisation] that Prevent’s financing be reconsidered,’ he added.
In a statement issued in 2018, Al-Manaar said that it rejected and condemned extremism and terrorism.
