Mosman on Sydney’s North Shore divided over plans for 24-hour Guzman y Gomez
A popular Mexican restaurant chain has divided the community in Sydney's leafy suburb of Mosman with a proposal for a 24-hour store.
Guzman y Gomez (GYG) submitted a development application to Mosman Council earlier this month, in a bid to establish a 24/7 restaurant on Sydney's lower north shore.
The chain wants to locate a restaurant on busy Military Road, between a pharmacy and a Lululemon store.
Surrounding property owners have been notified and all community members are encouraged to submit contributions by January 19.

The site is within a heritage conservation area and some community members have raised concerns about the proposed changes to the shopfront.
A number of local residents have written to the council to share their opposition.
“As a resident of Mosman I am strongly opposed to 24 hour trading of any kind in the village of Mosman – 6am to 10pm is appropriate but 24 hours is not – it is inappropriate for our community,” said a member's contribution of the community.
Another stated, “60% of TripAdvisor reviews rate this business as 2 stars or less on a scale of 5. There must be a reason.”

Not everyone is against the proposed vibrant yellow and black store, with one person commenting: 'I can't wait for it to open'.
'Good! If you want a late night bite to eat in Mosman… about time someone filled this niche in the market, but here comes the fun cops for sure,” said one.
“Who doesn't want 24-hour burritos.”

Others expressed concerns about whether the restaurant could survive with a 24-hour business model.
'I love GYG but don't understand how it can survive 24/7. Why not until midnight? How many people will buy at 3am?'.
NCA NewsWire has contacted Guzman Y Gomez and the Mosman Council for comment.
