Mortal Kombat 2 adds four new cast members with Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as Jerrod

Warner Bros.” The highly anticipated video game sequel Mortal Kombat 2 has completed its cast, with four new actors playing iconic video game characters.

Martyn Ford has signed on to play Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn, with Desmond Chiam as Edenian King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, and Damon Herriman coming on board as Quan Chi, via Deadline.

They join previously cast Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.

Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero , Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.

No story details have been given yet and Warner Bros. has not yet announced a production start date or release date.

The sequel is a sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat, where a mysterious realm known as Outerworld has defeated the people of Earthrealm in nine consecutive tournaments of Mortal Kombat.

If Earthrealm lost a tenth, Outerworld would take over the planet, with Earth’s hopes resting on the shoulders of MMA fighter Cole Young.

The end of the 2021 movie set the stage for Johnny Cage’s presence, with Cole heading to Los Angeles to track down the movie star.

While no story details were given, the new characters being added to the sequel of the blockbuster video game franchise are sure to excite many fans.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid returns to the helm, working from a script by Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy).

James Wan will produce through his Atomic Monster company with Michael Clear, plus Todd Garner, McQuoid and E. Bennett Walsh of Broken Road Productions.

The 6-foot-8-inch Ford is a professional bodybuilder and actor currently starring in The Machine and Red Sonja with Rhona Mitra next.

Chiam is from With Love, Nguyen is from The Spy Who Never Dies, and Herriman is from The Portable Door and Run Rabbit Run.
