Mortal Kombat 1 has a bug that could potentially affect every character in the game, giving an advantage to whoever is player one.
Mortal Kombat 1 player and YouTuber mrAPchem has discovered an issue in the fighting game that allows player one to perform certain combos during battles that cannot be performed by player two (via The gamer).
The YouTuber shared a video demonstrating the bug in action, saying that he initially thought it was only an issue with the Sub-Zero character, but later learned that every character on the roster could be affected.
The bug is also present in single-player mode and online multiplayer matches, which can cause headaches for players. You can watch the video below where mrAPchem explains in detail which combos are affected by this.
The video shows mrAPchem testing the bug several times while playing Sub-Zero, before switching to Kitana, where the glitch persists.
On the Mortal Kombat 1 error messages page, the issue was reported by another player who also linked mrAPchem’s video as evidence. Several others also commented below the thread about their shared experiences with the bug, which appears to be happening across multiple platforms.
“I just tried to reproduce this bug and got it working 100% of the time,” said one player. “This is horrific for a fighting game and needs to be fixed immediately.”
“This also affects Steam, I can reproduce this with a Mileena combo… I’m sure at this rate there will be a case for every character in the roster. This issue should be a top priority!” said another.
Fortunately, it appears the issue is currently under investigation, but developer NetherRealm Studios has yet to publicly comment on the issue, so who knows when it might be fixed. We will keep you informed.
Unfortunately, this is not the only problem Mortal Kombat 1 has been dealing with lately. The Nintendo Switch version of the game has been widely criticized since early access due to poor performance and visuals on Nintendo’s console compared to other versions. The game even launched on the platform without any major content, of which Warner Bros. Games says this will be added at a later date.
To make matters worse, the official Switch launch trailer appeared to feature PC footage instead of Nintendo Switch footage, leading fans to claim that the trailer is misleading consumers. The trailer has since been removed from Nintendo’s official YouTube channel, but neither the publisher nor the developer have commented on it.
Mortal Kombat 1 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
