As the frontman of The Smiths, Morrissey turned heads with his trademark quiff and witty and sardonic lyrics during their reign in the alternative rock world, releasing studio albums between 1982 and 1987.

He deliberately avoided rock machismo and cultivated the image of a sexually ambiguous social outsider who embraced celibacy with songs such as What Difference Does It Make? Girlfriend in a coma and started something I couldn’t finish.
