Mortifying moment Mormon TikTok star Taylor Frankie Paul, 30, is forced to explain ‘soft swinging’ to The View’s Joy Behar, 81

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul had to explain what “soft swinging” means to Joy Behar and Chelsea Clinton on Thursday’s episode of The View.

The Mormon TikTok star, who rose to fame after being involved in a massive scandal, was asked about the topic while promoting her new Hulu show.

While discussing the series, Behar, 81, questioned Paul, 30, about the incident.

“In 2022, you caused a major scandal, Ms. Taylor, when you revealed that you and your husband were getting divorced because you had both soft-swinged with other couples,” Behar said.

“It’s the soft part that throws me off. So what happened there? What is soft swinging, explain that.”

Paul replied awkwardly, “So swinging is when you swap partners, like swingers, right? So for us it was a matter of opening up our relationship, playing games and being intimate, all in front of each other.

“So we weren’t really switching. That’s why they called it soft swinging.”

Clinton, who was a guest panelist that day, then joined in the conversation and turned the conversation to Paul’s co-star Mayci Neeley.

Paul’s marriage to her then-husband Tate ended in 2022 after she developed feelings for one of her swingers and began an affair with one of her partners, who was also married to one of her friends.

At the time, Paul was rising as part of a group of “MomTok” influencers on TikTok. She and other glamorous Mormon moms often appeared in each other’s videos, creating dance moves and participating in viral trends together.

“MomTok was involved, and then – I think the public thought everyone in MomTok were swingers,” she said Fox News‘People were dissecting.’

And speaking on the Viall filesPaul said there was never a specific conversation that led to the waving. Instead, it began during a night of drinking when her husband and another suggested that she and a woman “make out… it’s hot.”

“I had done that when I was younger, it wasn’t a big deal to me… we had another party and it was like, take your clothes off and we’re going to take lingerie pictures together. It just escalated,” she explained.

Paul recalls that the two couples “had intercourse in the same bed
the girls kissed each other and the husbands touched the other women.”

At that time, only she, her husband and one other couple were present in the group, but over time a third couple joined them.

Paul said her then-husband was the first to pull the plug because he was concerned one of the women would get pregnant and not know who the father was.

“My husband was like, maybe we shouldn’t do this with our best friends anymore, but with strangers
I wasn’t for it,” she said.

Despite the story—and retaliation from Latter-day Saints who claim there are “gross misrepresentations” of the faith—Paul continues to maintain that she has every right to still identify herself as Mormon.

“I go to church and my son is going to be blessed here soon. It’s really not up to anyone to tell me I can’t go to church because I’m sinning. It’s between the church and me,” she said.

Paul revealed in a 2022 livestream video that she and her then-husband, Tate, had agreed to have multiple partners as part of a “soft swinging” group with other married Mormon couples, naming some of the women who often appear in her videos.

Paul and her husband had agreed that they would ‘not go all the way’ with other partners, but she broke that agreement with one of the other spouses for whom she had developed feelings, which ultimately ended her marriage.

Several of these women insisted they had nothing to do with it and made public statements, while others remained silent and refused to comment at all.

Several key players from the MomTok era have since claimed they were asked to join the Hulu show, but turned it down.

The friendship between several women and Paul fell apart and one of the women, Miranda McWhorter, said she did not want to appear on the show anymore because she did not want to come into contact with Paul.

“Yes, we said we would consider it if she wasn’t on the show, and we did. We knew we weren’t going to find out anytime soon, and yet we made the decision, for our families and ourselves, because it didn’t feel like the right fit,” she said.

At the time, it was unclear whether Paul would be allowed to appear on the show, as she was charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child and child abuse.

She accepted a plea deal for the aggravated assault and the other charges were dismissed.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu on September 5.

It is currently the most-watched unscripted premiere of 2024 for the streamer, surpassing the final season of The Kardashians.
