Morgan Wallen announces return to the stage, health update and apology for canceling show

Country music star Morgan Wallen shared an update on his health on social media, where he vowed to return to the stage, 11 days after canceling several shows due to doctor-ordered vocal rest.

One such show, in Oxford, Mississippi, was canceled just minutes before it was scheduled to perform, with several thousand fans already in the room eagerly awaiting the show.

It turns out that he lost his voice and the only proper cure was to rest his vocal cords, meaning he is not allowed to sing until the doctor judges he is physically ready.

With all that in mind, the Sneedville, Tennessee native felt the need to message his 5.5 million Instagram fans and followers and reveal that he would be returning to the stage on Thursday night.

‘What’s up, everyone? Just wanted to let you know I’m in Jacksonville, we’re going to be playing a show tonight – and all weekend,” the Last Night star shared from the Florida location, adding, “I wouldn’t say I’m 100% but I’m doing a lot better.’

Update: Morgan Wallen, 29, took to Instagram on Thursday to announce his return to the stage, another apology for missing his April 23 show and a health update, 11 days after he had a last-minute concert in Mississippi canceled

“And to everyone in Oxnard I just wanted to reiterate how sorry I am for the way things turned out,” he said of the last-minute cancellation: “I thought I’d be good to go and I just wasn’t.” ‘

The singer-songwriter further revealed that he and his team are currently working to find a new date for the missed show.

“We’re working on a new date – we’re almost on a new date, I just don’t have the exact date yet. So as soon as I know, I’ll let you know.”

“I appreciate you all and can’t wait to get back on stage tonight,” he added as he finished the clip.

“I love you all and thank you for all the love and support, always, and God bless you and see you soon.”

Later that evening on Thursday, the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena shared a video of Wallen performing his popular song You Proof, according to People.

The Up Down star canceled his April 23 show at the University of Mississippi’s Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, not long before he was due to take the stage and perform.

A video board in the room explained to the disappointed audience that “Morgan has lost his voice and will not be able to perform tonight.”

After reminding people to leave the stadium safely, the message explained to fans that they could get their money back at the point of purchase.

The following night, Wallen announced that the three remaining shows that week in Michigan, Illinois and Nebraska would be postponed due to his lost voice and recovery.

“You all know how important my fans are to me so I feel terrible about this news,” he wrote on his Instagram story. “I want nothing more than to perform on stage for you. But as of today, I’m on doctor-ordered vocal rest and we have to reschedule this week’s shows.”

Wallen explained, “I appreciate and understand everything you do to come to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know won’t be 100%.” I’m doing everything I can to speed up the process to that 100%.’

The three most recently postponed shows have already been moved to June 27, September 8, and September 9, respectively, and that original tickets will be honored for the new dates.

After the canceled show in Mississippi, a security guard at the stadium was reportedly heard saying that Wallen was too drunk to perform. But that claim has since been discontinued by the security company.

A disappointed Morgan Wallen fan, Brandi Burcham, went so far as to file a lawsuit against the country singer on Monday for breach of contract and negligence, according to TMZ.

While fans can get a refund for the ticket to the Oxford, Mississippi show, they can also keep it and use it for the rescheduled date which is still pending.

But Burcham claims the refund will not pay for “out-of-pocket” expenses, such as travel to the venue, food and hotel accommodation.

The prosecution is aiming to have the lawsuit certified as a class action, per outlet, so that other fans can join as well.
