Kamala Harris has been labeled as inauthentic by liberal television icon Katie Couric.
Couric, 67, made the comments about her podcast, Next questionwhile talking to Charlamagne de God about his conversation with the Democratic candidate for president.
The Breakfast Club host said he believed Harris was “authentically who she” is during their town hall in Detroit.
“That’s a very disciplined, seasoned politician,” he added.
But Couric said she disagreed with Harris’ assessment, responding, “I beg to differ on that point.” I think she takes a very long time to get to her point, and she relies on talking points too often.
“I think she’s gotten a lot better than she used to be, but it’s almost like she’s afraid to say something that will come back to haunt her later.”

Couric went on to say that Harris “just doesn’t really articulate her true policy position, and she often doesn’t really answer the question directly.”
“That’s my experience and my experience watching her. I just wish she would say, “This is our plan,” or, “You’re right, there have been a lot of illegal immigrants coming into this country during the Biden administration, but this is why, and this is what I want to do.” that it’s moving forward’, you know?’
The veteran journalist, a former anchor of TODAY and CBS Evening News, has previously spoken about how she has embraced her liberal politics since leaving TV.
“I believe strongly in reproductive rights, I think they are the basis for equal rights for women, and I felt an obligation to say that,” she said in 2023.
“I feel like I’ve earned the right to express my opinions on some issues that are important to me.”
Charlamagne, for his part, continued to defend Harris, arguing that while he understood Couric’s perspective, he believes the vice president is merely being disciplined with her words.
‘I understand what you’re saying. I think a lot of politicians, at least the disciplined ones, are afraid to say things that might come back to haunt them, but my thing is in 2024, what could really come back to haunt you?” he said.

‘But hey, there’s only one Donald Trump. Nothing seems to haunt Donald Trump.”
Charlamagne added of Trump: “This man should have been disqualified from running for president a long, long, long time ago.”
Earlier this month, the vice president spoke at length with Charlemagne about campaign issues, when the sometimes critical host asked her to clarify some online issues surrounding her campaign.
This week, he and Anderson Cooper both called each other “bulls***” during a tense argument on CNN over the network’s coverage of Harris.
Cooper challenged Charlamagne about Harris’ authenticity, questioning why she wasn’t showing “personality” by appearing on programs like podcaster Joe Rogan’s show, which takes on her opponent, former President Donald Trump, on Friday.
Couric went on to say that Harris “just doesn’t really articulate her true policy position, and she doesn’t often answer the question directly.”

“Americans need to continue to look at Donald Trump’s rhetoric because I don’t know why we’re even thinking about electing someone who talks about putting people in camps,” Charlamagne said.
The Breakfast Club host fired Cooper when he insisted that CNN has important discussions, claiming the network was wasting time discussing whether Harris is black.
Then Cooper interjected, “Honestly, that’s bullshit, I’m sorry.”
“I’m a big fan of yours, but to say we’re discussing, Kamala Harris is as black as -” before Charlamagne – who initially responded to Cooper by saying “ooh, I like that” – cut him off with the same swear word.
‘I’ve seen those roundtable discussions a lot. That’s nonsense, Anderson, to say you’re not having those conversations.”
