Truck driver ploughs through intersection hitting multiple cars before crashing into a primary school

A truck has ploughed through a primary school in Sydney’s south after failing to stop at an intersection and crashing into several cars.

Emergency services attempted to free a trapped male truck driver after he crashed into a classroom at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Moorebank.

The driver is said to have failed to stop at an intersection at Newbridge Road and Nuwarra Road around 1pm on Saturday.

Police will investigate whether the driver had a medical problem before the accident.

“He left the road, hit the fence of the local church and then ended up under a classroom at the school,” said Sergeant Shaun Colls. 7News.

“Luckily it was the weekend (so there were no kids at school),” he said.

According to reports, about a dozen cars were hit when the truck entered the intersection. Four people, including the truck driver, were treated at the scene by paramedics.

A woman in her 20s, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 70s were all taken to Liverpool Hospital.

No one, including the driver, was seriously injured.

The truck became stuck in a classroom at the school as traffic came to a standstill due to the scale of the accidents.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended the scene to assess the structural safety of the building.

Police are asking anyone who has information or footage of the accident to come forward.
