When will new monsters appear in Monster Hunter Now?

At launch, developers Niantic and Capcom confirmed that new monsters – in addition to new story missions and weapon types – will be introduced to the game as part of a seasonal model, which will release quarterly as part of a major update.

The first of these, “Fulminations in the Frost”, was released in December 2023 and introduced Radobaan, Banbaro, Barioth and Zinogre.

From here, developers Niantic and Capcom have confirmed that new monsters will arrive from March 2023.

Outside of these major updates, there are monsters exclusive to the event, such as Black Diablos during September's “Diablos Invasion” and Pink Rathian during October's “Rathian & Pink Rathian Week.” These are more powerful versions of Diablos and Rathian, but since they come with their own armor and weapon sets, they can be considered unique monsters in their own right.

This means that we can expect new monsters after the aforementioned seasonal updates, although the frequency of these is uncertain.

For those who are expecting original samples in Monster hunter now, so far the launch roster consists of creatures that debuted elsewhere in the series. However, the developers have said that they would “like to include unique monsters in the game in the future.”

This isn't the first Niantic game to add to the canon of a broader series – Pokemon Go for example, introduced Meltan and Melmetal – and it will be interesting to see what impact this has Monster hunter now has been on the main series over time.
