The daughter of the Monster of Avignon screamed that he would ‘die like a dog’ after the rapist claimed he never abused her, in his closing statement in the trial that shocked the world.
Dominique Pelicot has admitted to drugging his 50-year-old wife Gisele with powerful sedatives and inviting dozens of strangers he met on the Internet to rape her.
But this morning he continued to deny drugging his daughter Caroline at the age of 20, posing her half-naked in lingerie on a bed and taking photographs of her – images that were found on his computer years later.
In his closing statement, the 71-year-old said: ‘I would like to look my daughter straight in the eye and tell her that I did nothing. [to her].’
But in an outburst of anger, his daughter Caroline Darian shouted: ‘I will never see you again! You will die alone like a dog!’
Under questioning by his lawyer Maître Zavarro, Pelicot claimed he had not abused his daughter.
He said, “Even if she no longer loves me, I know what I did and what I didn’t do.
“If I say I have to die like a dog, it doesn’t change my feelings for her.”

But he added: “If I had taken those pictures [of Caroline drugged and semi-naked] then I don’t remember taking them.’
Pelicot admitted in court that he had a sex addiction and described the practice of drugging women as ‘s***’.
The main suspect made his final statement this morning.
Madame Pelicot’s lawyers will make their closing statements later.
The trial of Dominique Pelicot and his 50 co-defendants – described by Caroline Darian as the ‘worst sex case in France in 20 years’ – is expected to conclude at the end of December.
