A man has been charged with murder following a stabbing incident in southeastern Melbourne that left a woman dead.

Sven Lindemann, 51, faces Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday after the death of 39-year-old Monique Lezsak.

The Endeavor Hills man was under police guard in hospital with “life-threatening” injuries to the upper body.

He is seen as the murdered woman’s new boyfriend.

Police questioned Lindemann after she was called to a house in Kassan Gardens around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning following reports of an altercation.

Ms. Lezsak was pronounced dead at the scene and her 10-year-old daughter was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Her shattered ex-partner Jye Carter described her to reporters as a “beautiful person” and a devoted mother to their son and daughter.

‘[She was] the most amazing mother and kindest human being on the planet,” said friend Jacqueline Schwarcz The age on Wednesday.

Ms Lezsak’s 10-year-old daughter is in a stable condition in hospital as she recovers from minor injuries, and was hailed as a hero after she was cut in the arm trying to save her mother.

Lindemann was also charged with recklessly causing injury.
