The red carpet that Monica and Tim graced was for the premiere of Monica’s film Maria Callas: Letters And Memoirs.

Maria Callas: Letters And Memoirs is a documentary about Monica and the cast’s experiences performing the play of the same name from 2019 to 2023.

Monica and her team took the Paris play on a European and American tour, visiting London, Spoleto in Italy, Athens, Monaco, Los Angeles, New York and many more.

The play tells the story of Maria Callas, an American-born Greek soprano who was one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th century.

Despite a career as an actress spanning more than 30 years, Maria Callas: Letters and Memoirs marked Monica’s stage debut.

Monica, who suffers from stage fright, told the story Opera thread about her role: ‘I knew the great singer, the performer. Even when I did Mozart in the Jungle, I approached Callas to learn the pose, as I did with [Anna] Netrebko and [Montserrat] Caballe.

‘But I didn’t know anything about Maria, the Onassis story, or that she was an incredible diva Divina. But when Tom Volf came to me with this project, he gave me these letters, these memoirs, and I realized the woman, the person. It was a completely different story because I was able to tap into her vulnerabilities and sensitivity.

‘That’s why I couldn’t resist, even though it was the first time I was on stage when I read those letters and memoirs. I said, “I’m scared, but I want to do it because those letters and memoirs really inspired me, and I want to share them with someone else.”
