Monaco are closing in on a £40 million takeover for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.

As things stand, the US international is only considering a move to the France squad, despite interest from other Premier League clubs.

Mail Sport reported on Wednesday that the Gunners were in talks with the Ligue 1 club in the expectation of a formal offer being made by the end of the week.

And the deal has made significant progress over the past 24 hours, with a deal now all but sealed. Some finer details of the deal are yet to be finalized, but Balogun is expected to join Monaco.

The striker, who last spent a successful loan spell at Reims last season, trained outside the first team for much of the summer and was deemed surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta. And he is now ready for the exit of the Emirates.
