When King Charles arrived for a state visit to France yesterday, all eyes were not on the king or French President Emmanuel Macron, but on their wives.

In a charming tribute to her host country at the state banquet, Queen Camilla, 76, opted for a creation from one of her favorite London fashion houses.

Instead, she wore France’s most synonymous fashion house, and the same designer her hostess, First Lady Brigitte Macron, 70, called on – Dior.

And Camilla’s cape dress gets my vote as her chicest look ever. My goodness, what a statement!

I assume the two talked ahead of time and coordinated nearly identical blue hues by the same designer as a show of togetherness.

Camilla notably wore something British and plain when she arrived earlier – a pink coat dress by Fiona Clare; Brigitte wore a Saint Laurent suit.

But at the Palace of Versailles, the two men coordinated, even though their dresses were different enough to not constitute a total twinning effect.

Much like Brigitte’s sheer sleeve on her long Dior dress with a bejeweled collar, Camilla’s cape allowed for a flattering flash of flesh without revealing too much.

And the trailing tails of the cape provided the drama befitting a new monarch.
