Officers tried to enter the building by kicking in the doors and windows, but the house was completely barricaded, the Louisville Metro police said.
The unknown woman managed to break through the window of the second-floor room in which she was being held.
A neighbor shouted: ‘I have a ladder’ and footage shows the officer climbing to the room.
He climbs over broken glass and enters the filthy bedroom before grabbing the chain from the woman’s neck. He tries to calm her down.
“The woman had a chain around her neck, which was secured with a MasterLock, and that chain was screwed to the floor with screws,” police said.
She can be heard crying in the video and apologizes to the police officer, telling him that the man who locked her up kept the key on his keychain.
Two officers used an ax they found in the home to break the chain loose from the floor.
The woman was in shock and continued to shake and cry as firefighters used bolt cutters to remove the locked chain from her neck.
