Moment Wisconsin QB Tyler Van Dyke is slammed to the ground in brutal hit and carted off in huge injury scare

Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was carted into the locker room with an injury Saturday night against No. 4 Alabama.

The Badgers quarterback appeared to injure his knee on the opening drive of the highly anticipated game at Wisconsin.

Van Dyke was running on third down and was tackled near the sideline, then hit the turf with a thud.

He immediately grabbed his right knee after being injured and was taken to the injury tent on the sideline, before emerging on a trolley.

The Miami transfer looked devastated with his head in his hands as the cart headed for the locker room and was sent off before the second half.

Braedyn Locke, who started three games last season in place of the injured Tanner Mordecai, took over for Van Dyke.

The Badgers eventually took a 3-0 lead after kicking a field goal on the drive, but Van Dyke’s injury overshadowed the strong start. The Crimson Tide eventually took a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Van Dyke’s injury comes just two days after NFL quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was forced to leave the Miami Dolphins’ Week 2 game after also suffering an injury on a hard hit.

Tagovailoa hit the turf hard after a hit by Damar Hamlin in the third quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ loss to the Buffalo Bills and appeared to immediately go on offense with a screen.

It was the third concussion the quarterback has suffered in his NFL career, after dealing with head injuries since 2022.

Despite Van Dyke also being thrown to the ground, he did not appear to have suffered any head injuries. There is currently a huge fear of concussions in sports.

Van Dyke completed 38 of 63 passes (60.3 percent) for 406 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in Wisconsin’s first two victories over Western Michigan and South Dakota.
