This is the terrifying moment when a bank manager is calmed down by a police officer after gang members kidnap him from his home and strap a bomb to his chest during a botched robbery in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
The incident took place Thursday evening when four men broke into the home of the director of Bradesco Bank in the municipality of Sobrália and held him hostage until Friday morning, military police said.
The robbers forcibly took the manager to the bank branch, where they overpowered another manager, a cleaning lady and two security guards.
As part of their plot to cover up the robbery, the suspects ordered the cleaner to sweep the front of the building.

Nevertheless, the woman escaped and ran into a cousin who worked at a nearby company, who was able to alert a police officer.
Moments later, the officer stopped two of the suspects from fleeing the bank.
The police negotiated the release of the hostages and arrested two of the robbers.
A second video showed the two suspects lying on the ground and surrounded by officers before a male bank manager stepped outside.

After the arrest, the branch manager removed part of the explosive device and threw it into the bank.
Members of the Belo Horizonte Bomb Squad evacuated the bank and detonated the bomb. No injuries were reported.
Two of the other suspects managed to flee and remained fugitives as of Friday.
