Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were stunned when they first laid their eyes on the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII rings.

The couple was jubilant as they opened personalized boxes containing the rings during a ceremony in Kansas City on Thursday evening.

The quarterback and tight end both added the lavish jewelry to their hands as they held up their three rings to the camera.

This year’s ring, made by Jostens, contains 529 diamonds each – 505 round diamonds, 19 baguette diamonds and five marquise diamonds – along with 38 rubies in the team’s signature color

Of course, it’s not all for show.

The team explained that there’s a lot of symbolism in there, starting with the interlocking arrowhead logo made of 16 custom-cut rubies to represent the 16 division titles in franchise history.

The word “world” contains 39 diamonds representing the number of touchdowns the team scored last season, while the corresponding word “champions” contains 70 diamonds representing the points scored in the Chiefs’ three AFC playoff victories.

The bottom of the ring also features a diagram of the game-winning play where the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in February.

Achieving consecutive Super Bowl championships is an incredibly difficult and rare feat. It helps define legacies for franchises, coaches and players, and is a testament to the commitment and dedication required of everyone in the organization,” said Chiefs President Mark Donovan.

“This incredible piece of wearable art is a true symbol of the journey the team has taken to secure the franchise’s fourth Lombardi Trophy, and we couldn’t be more proud to represent Chiefs Kingdom as champions once again,” he added .

Kelce arrived at the ceremony looking red hot, opting for a bold all-red ensemble.

“Smooth operator baby,” he was heard saying as he walked the red carpet.

When asked what inspired the ensemble, the athlete replied, “Chiefs Kingdom, baby,” according to reporter Matt Derrick.

Fans would be forgiven for thinking that Kelce may have taken a page from his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s book, who became synonymous with the color red after releasing an album of the same name in 2012.

Meanwhile, Mahomes opted for a black suit jacket, which was studded with black stones.

He also accessorized with a stack of silver chains and a matching link bracelet.

Just hours before things got underway, Kelce raised expectations for the new piece of jewelry in a teaser video shared by the Chiefs on social media.

The Catching Kelce alum was seen with three fingers in the air — in celebration of the third Super Bowl win of his career — while pointing to his ring finger.

Whether intentional or not, Swift’s legion of fans thought the clip was a cheeky nod to engagement rumors swirling around the couple.
