Moment tractor-trailer stuck on a railroad is smashed to pieces by oncoming train in North Carolina

This is the terrifying moment a tractor-trailer was hit and smashed to pieces after being hit by an oncoming train, making it the third crash at the same spot this year.

The truck’s trailer had become stuck at the railroad crossing in Wingate, North Carolina, yesterday when the collision occurred, causing the train to derail.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash that occurred on S. Main Street, and officials said no hazardous material was carried to the tractor-trailer.

A local WSOC-TV news report said the truck driver was taken to a police station after drugs were found in a compartment.

Police said they don’t know if the drugs had anything to do with why the truck got stuck on the track.

In January of this year, two lorry combinations were hit by an oncoming train within a week.

The reason that this type of vehicle gets stuck is that the slope on the tracks is too high.

The most recent crash is believed to be the third to happen so far this year.

Local authorities have proposed a plan to solve the problem in an effort to prevent train accidents.

A witness, Malik Jordan, who studies at Wingate University, was getting a pizza when he saw the accident last night.

In the video, the train can be seen traveling at high speeds and sounding its horn before colliding with the truck, sending dust everywhere.

He told the channel: “As soon as I came out I looked to my right and saw there was a lorry on the tracks. I was impressed. I was like, ‘Oh God, I can’t believe this is happening again.’

Images of the crash posted to social media were captioned, ‘Another train hits a lorry in Wingate. This will ultimately cause a derailment. Something has to be done now.’

Local residents would be tired of the accidents. Brad Lacroix, a delivery driver in the area, said, “The whole town is just rolling their eyes at it right now.”

A spokesman for the Union County Sheriff’s Department said, “Just after 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, a locomotive collided with a utility vehicle (semi-truck) that was stuck on the railroad tracks on North Main Street in Wingate.

The truck was not carrying any hazardous substances and the driver was able to leave the truck before the collision.

“Fortunately, there have been no injuries at this time.”
