Moment squatting ‘throuple’ are evicted from enormous Atlanta mansion

A group of people who have been squatting in a sprawling mansion in Atlanta have finally been evicted after living for free for almost a year.

The Fulton County Marshal’s Department shared footage of the operation to kick the trio — who are in a three-way romantic relationship — out of the 15,000-square-foot mansion in North Atlanta.

Tensions among the officers increased after initial investigations revealed that ‘the tenants may identify themselves as sovereign citizens’.

“Significant precautions have been taken,” the department said in an incident report.

Video of the operation showed a bare house with minimal furnishings as marshals carrying long guns and shields searched the property.

In the vision, they checked multiple rooms in the house while checking for other squatters.

According to court documents seen by WSB-TV2, Abdurrashiyd York and Pamela Delpiano were two of the squatters who had called the mansion home for at least a year.

The documents referred to unnamed ‘others’ who also occupied the house at various stages.

The publication said a dog had recently died in the house, and York said they were considering where to bury him.

According to spokesman Captain Quintin Hill, the trio has been in the house since the foreclosure trial last year and refuses to leave.

The house – estimated to be worth around $3.5 million – has been at the center of a long and protracted lawsuit over ownership.

The bank JP Morgan Chase filed a lawsuit demanding that they vacate the property, but York filed a counterclaim demanding that the bank pay him $50,000 to reimburse him for repairs he made to the house while he was using it inhabited.

In a 2023 lawsuit, the court heard that Delpiano and her ex-husband purchased the property in 2005, but the mortgage loan defaulted in March 2006.

The couple divorced in 2008, and records show that authorities tried to notify a foreclosure sale at least eight times in the years that followed.

“An aerial surveillance drone was also used to assess the situation and identify potential residents,” the marshal’s department said.

“Additional units have been deployed to the scene to ensure safety and effective monitoring.”

‘Although property owners have the right to evict squatters, they must follow legal procedures.’

When officers arrived, the trio was cooperative and left the scene. No arrests have been made.
