An 82-year-old Home Depot employee was knocked to the ground by a thief after trying to avoid stealing power tools in North Carolina.
The unidentified victim was working at the outdoor station booth in what appears to be the yard of a Hillsborough Home Depot on Tuesday when he spotted a man in a dark hoodie rolling a cart full of power tools.
The man can be seen slowly approaching the suspect, who has not been identified, and placing a soft hand on the man’s arm.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect, wearing a black Calvin Klein sweatshirt and mask, thrust a powerful arm over the older man’s shoulders, pushing him to the ground as he continued.

The man can be seen slowly approaching the suspect, who has not been identified, and placing a soft hand on the man’s arm. Surveillance footage shows the suspect, who was wearing a black Calvin Klein sweatshirt and mask, shoved a powerful arm over the older man’s shoulders and pushed him to the ground as he continued to walk.

The man falls into a potted plant and struggles to get up. Police said the man was “injured,” but it’s unclear how serious it is.
The suspect rolled out of what appeared to be stealing a Ryobi 1900 PSI electric pressure washer, which retails for $179; a 2700 PSI brushless electric pressure washer, which retails for $419; and a 2000 PSI electric pressure washer, which retails for $239.
According to police, the suspect fled in a white four-door Hyundai Sonata with an ’empty’ temporary tag.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man.
The altercation comes after the state was rocked by a 15-year-old gunman who killed his 16-year-old brother and four others near Neuse River Greenway.
Austin Thompson murdered He then murdered Susan Karnatz, 49, Nicole Connors, 52, Mary Marshall, 35, and off-duty Gabriel Torres, 29, earlier this month.

Thompson fled the crime scene to a barn six miles from his home, where he had barricaded himself for several hours. Before he was taken into custody, police said Thompson had suffered a “life-threatening injury.”
A neighbor told the News and Observer that Thompson was sometimes seen with a book bag in the early morning hours.
“I used to see him at 4:30 AM with a book bag on,” said Lavarius Thompson, an unrelated neighbor. “Buses don’t run until seven in the morning.”
Neighbors also said Thompson lived with his father, who worked as a handyman and often helped with odd jobs.
Other neighbors in the Hedingham subdivision who were also classmates of the shooter said: WRAL they did not see any red flags prior to the shooting.
Thompson’s family has not yet spoken out. His massacre prompted President Biden to renew his call for a ban on assault weapons.
