Moment passengers wrestle married father as he tries to hijack plane by lunging at flight attendant and attempting to storm cockpit

This is the moment brave passengers struggled with a father as he tried to hijack a plane.

The shocking incident occurred yesterday during a Volaris Airlines flight from El Bajío in central Mexico.

The intended destination was Tijuana, but the would-be hijacker – reportedly named Mario – wanted to divert the plane to nearby San Diego.

Video footage from the cabin shows fellow passengers grabbing Mario in an attempt to prevent him from storming the cockpit.

You can hear other people shouting, crying and screaming as they begged him not to open the door.

A witness claims the commotion started after he grabbed a flight attendant and grabbed the plane’s door handle.

The 31-year-old then allegedly threatened to jump out of the plane and take the staff member with him.

After a passenger intervened, crew members helped detain the man, who was traveling with his wife and children.
