Shocking CCTV footage captured the moment an off-duty cop interrupted a burglary in LA, leading to a shootout that left the suspect dead.

LAPD released surveillance camera footage Saturday showing Bakerfield police officers in the middle of a gunfire that left 29-year-old suspect Jason Taylor Boles dead.

An off-duty police officer with the LAPD’s reserve program called 911 around 11:30 a.m. after seeing Boles possibly breaking into homes in the 11300 block of Andretti Avenue in Bakersfield, California.

A nearby security camera shows Boles pulling a sweatshirt and a gun from the trash. He approached the officer’s car with the gun.

‘What happened, huh? I have nothing,” Boles was heard asking the off-duty police officer while on the phone with 911.

“Get out of here,” the officer said. “Stand back.”

“I’m an off-duty officer and I need help out here,” the officer was heard saying during the 911 call as the suspect fired multiple gunshots at him.

The officer fired back and drove away a short distance while waiting for on-duty officers to arrive.

Boles turned and fired his gun at three Bakersfield police officers who later arrived on the scene.

Police bodycam footage shows officers repeatedly telling Boles to drop his weapon.

“Show me your hands,” officers are heard saying in the video. “We won’t shoot you if you put out both hands.”

Boles was killed after attempts to surrender him failed, Bakersfield police said.

A semi-automatic pistol was recovered from Boles.

Sergeant Dennis Eddy, Officer Brandon Price and Sergeant Ryan McWilliams opened fire on Boles during the confrontation and were placed on administrative leave.

Officer Price was hit in the leg and treated at the scene. The off-duty officer’s car was also hit by gunfire.

LAPD said the off-duty officer is an employee who can carry a weapon with a badge.

The off-duty officer who initially confronted Boles has not been identified.

“At this point in the investigation, the Bakersfield Police Department has not identified a burglary victim or location of a burglary associated with this incident,” Bakersfield police said in a statement last month.

During the firefight, the property of two residents was hit by stray bullets. One bullet hit a resident’s front yard and other bullets hit the side of another home.

Boles’ mother told me KGET Bakersfield that Boles was released from jail two days before he was killed.

He was in the Andretti area looking for a friend, the mother said. Boles reportedly feared for his life and was struggling with an addiction.

Boles was captured on doorbell video crying and pleading for help two weeks before the fatal officer-involved shooting.
