Mirra Andreeva SLAMS umpire for controversial Wimbledon call before crashing after 16-year-old threw her racket to give up match point
Teenage Wimbledon star Mirra Andreeva was left seething after a controversial referee signal gave Madison Keys a match point in her loss to the American.
The 16-year-old Russian’s amazing run in SW19 came to an end on Monday when she was beaten 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 on Court Two by Keys, who has booked her place in the quarter-finals.
However, there were boos at 5-2 when Andreeva was penalized for throwing her racket, giving Keys a match point. The youngster, furious at the decision, was adamant that she had slipped and not thrown the racket on purpose.
She had already been warned about her behavior on the court after furiously throwing her racket as Keys claimed the second set on a tiebreak to draw, after Andreeva had won the first set 6–3.
As a result, when the racket started flying again after appearing to lose her footing, Andreeva got match point against Keys, who took it to advance to the last eight.

After being penalized at such a crucial moment in the match, the current world number 102 approached the referee to express her frustration.
“You don’t understand what you’re doing,” you heard her say.
Replays showed that Andreeva had, as she claimed, slipped before she lost control of her racket, with former US tennis star Andy Roddick among many who felt it was a harsh umpire.
She was visibly furious at the call and left the field immediately after the defeat, opting not to shake the referee’s hand.
Andreeva also burst into tears on her bench as she trailed 4-1 in the deciding set and couldn’t contain her emotions as Keys sealed the match point.
