Moment Meghan Markle asks woman not to pose next to Prince Harry for Polo prizegiving photo – and lets royal fan stand next to her instead

Meghan Markle caused an awkward moment on stage when she asked a woman not to pose for a photo next to Prince Harry after he won a polo tournament.

The Duchess, 42, ordered people onto the stage after she presented Harry, 39, with a trophy at a glitzy charity polo match in Miami, Florida.

She asked the well-dressed woman in a white dress to move to the center of the group, away from Harry, and insisted that she sit in the center of the group next to her husband with the royal fan next to her.

Moments earlier, Meghan planted a loving kiss on her royal husband to celebrate his victory – with a Netflix camera crew in tow to capture the moment for the Duke’s upcoming series.

The exchange came as a woman tried to pose next to Harry, but Meghan pushed her to the center of the group as she insisted on standing next to her husband.

The group eventually found the space to celebrate on stage

Just before the awkward altercation, the couple enjoyed a passionate embrace to celebrate Harry’s victory at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge

The awkward conversation continued for several moments as Harry wrapped his arm tightly around his wife, causing others to shuffle around them looking for a spot.

After Meghan insisted on keeping her seat, the woman was forced to duck under the trophy to find her spot on the stage before saying anything to Meghan.

Harry was red-faced during the exchange – although this may have been more down to his efforts on the blistering hot day as he led his team to victory at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge.

Meghan was joined at the $1,600-a-ticket event by her close friend Serena Williams, and dressed to impress as she donned an $800 dress by Californian designer Heidi Merrick.

The royal, which the designer has worn before, paired the flowing white summer dress with a statement bow and cut-out back with a $3,300 Maison Valentino bag.

Surrounded by her camera crew, Meghan looked at ease as she took a risk in sky-high heels on the grassy grounds.

While Harry took part in the match in his regular polo attire, he arrived at the event hand-in-hand with the Duchess in a fresh summer look.

He opted for cream trousers, a light gray jacket and a light blue shirt, while slipping on some loafer brown shoes.

Harry took on his old friend Nacho Figueras at the tournament and appeared to be following the event closely as he chatted with guests and posed for the Netflix camera crew.

The couple later posed with Nacho – described as the ‘David Beckham of polo’ – and his Argentinian socialite wife Delfina Blaquier.

While Harry’s Netflix project will delve into the glamorous world of polo, Meghan is working on her own production for the streaming site that will focus on lifestyle-oriented topics.

‘He looked like a real networker: he shook hands and smiled for photos. He seemed in his element,” said an onlooker.

As Harry took the court, Meghan was joined by her tennis legend boyfriend Serena, who sipped a glass of champagne as they mingled at the glitzy event.

At one point, Serena and Harry enjoyed a warm hug as the prince checked out the action outside the match and hugged each other like old friends – they had grown close in the years since the Duke and Duchess started dating.

The royal couple appeared at the event as they continue filming two new series for Netflix as part of their ongoing $100 million deal with the streaming giant.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have two non-fiction projects in the works, stemming from the launch of 42-year-old Meghan’s new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Meghan appears to focus on lifestyle-oriented topics such as gardening and cooking, while Harry will delve into the elite world of professional polo.

They announced the news on their Archewell website this week, promising to “provide viewers with unprecedented access to the world of professional polo.”

They add: ‘Best known for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull back the curtain on the daring and passion of the sport, capturing players and everything it takes to compete at the highest level.’

Before donning his polo clothes, Harry opted for cream trousers, a light gray jacket and a bright blue shirt, while slipping on some brown slip-on shoes.

Harry and Meghan’s glamorous public arrival comes amid claims from experts that the Duke is working closely with Archewell PRs to organize his appearances in a bid to avoid ‘gotcha’ moments.

Many of Harry’s recent performances have been very carefully publicized, with little information, video or images shared before or during the events.

Instead, approved photos or video clips have been released hours or even days after they occurred.

That same policy appears to have clearly been in place at this latest event, with an employee telling DailyMail.com that access was only granted to a pre-approved list of people.
