Moment man ‘throttles’ cyclist and throws him off his bike in shocking road rage attack

Police are investigating a shocking attack on a cyclist, after an angry motorist choked him and threw him to the ground in broad daylight.

Shocking footage showed the horrific attack that took place in Edinburgh’s Old Town on Friday afternoon.

The video shows the 34-year-old cyclist standing in front of a white car on High School Wynd, talking to a female passenger as the irate driver honks his horn.

The man on the bike appeared to be having a heated argument with the woman, who was wearing a blue hoodie and gray sweatpants.

The male driver of the vehicle then angrily got out of the car and walked towards the cyclist.

The injured cyclist was found sprawled on the ground. He was taken to hospital to be examined.

He then launched a terrifying attack on the cyclist, grabbing him by the neck with both hands and then throwing him to the ground.

The cyclist was sprawled on the ground as the driver and passenger walked back to the vehicle, which had a license plate on the windshield.

The photo shows the man on the bicycle grabbing his head after he was thrown onto the road.

Parts of his bicycle also exploded on the road during the violent attack.

Emergency services rushed to the cyclist’s aid and police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

Detectives also confirmed that he was taken to hospital to be evaluated for his injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘At around 6.25pm ​​on Friday 20 September 2024, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car in High School Wynd, Edinburgh.

‘The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital for examination and officers are conducting a positive investigation into the incident.’
