A violent brawl between two teenagers from upstate New York was caught on camera and shows a 17-year-old student stabbing his 18-year-old classmate in the hand and in the back before being stopped by teachers.

The brutal attack took place Monday at Proctor High School Utica and was filmed by onlookers and posted on social media.

The footage shows the student running up to his classmate in the hallway of their school before leaping out at him and the man quickly retaliates, slamming his rival into a wall.

The 18-year-old can be seen throwing a series of punches at the 17-year-old, who is then brought to the ground and punched in the head.

The attacker appears to have something in his hand as the victim repeatedly yells that his attacker has a knife.

“He’s got a knife, he’s got a knife,” you hear the teen screaming desperately as his attacker grabs him from behind. ‘You, can’t you see that? He has a knife.’

A crowd then begins to form around the couple who continue to struggle.

Members of the crowd can be heard begging the young attacker to “drop the knife.”

The 17-year-old student continues to brandish an object, later confirmed to be a knife, in a stabbing motion.

He can be seen ignoring the pleas to stop the attack, before a woman is seen entering the frame and trying to help.

“He has a knife,” you hear members of the crowd repeat.

A male employee can be seen approaching the pair before retrieving the attacker’s knife. ‘Have you gone mad,’ said the male employee.

“He just took the shit out of my hands,” you hear the 18-year-old student say to the male staffer.

The male employee calls out to another employee to help in the fight and tells his colleague that he now has the knife in his hand.

Utica Police Department and Utica City School District released a joint statement about the altercation on social media.

“The teachers took immediate action, disregarding their safety, and tried to separate the two sides,” the statement read.

“The teachers grabbed the suspect and forcibly disarmed him, holding him until security personnel arrived.”

Authorities said the suspect was immediately removed from the scene and taken to a secure area.

The 18-year-old victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds to his back and hands, was helped by school nurses before being taken to hospital. Police said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

After an investigation, police said the 17-year-old has been charged with attempted first-degree assault, a Class C felony and fourth-degree possession of a weapon, according to police. Daily Sentinel.

He will answer for his charges in Oneida County Family Court. Utica police said they will have a stronger presence both inside and outside the school building.

The Proctor High School campus will remain closed for the rest of the week, police said.

‘Students are not allowed to leave the building during free periods and before lunch. This process will be re-evaluated next week.’

Students were also advised to contact school officials if they felt traumatized by the event.
