As the couple falls to the ground, the youngsters clamber around them, calling out to each other.
Then several youths appear to kick their victim repeatedly, at least five times.
An off-screen voice shouts, “Enough, enough!” before the clip ends.
When contacted by MailOnline, the owner of the barbershop in Ponteland Road denied that a colleague was involved.
He added that it happened “a few days ago.”
A series of Facebook posts responding to the video revealed that the youths had been in an argument with employees of a nearby pizzeria moments earlier.
According to a woman who witnessed the incident, the youths boarded a bus at a stop near the barbershop.
They were then followed by two men in red shirts who ‘stormed’ the bus.
It is alleged the men began beating the boys before turning on the witness’s partner, who had asked them to leave the bus.
According to the witness, the bus driver remained at the stop while police were dispatched to the scene.
The video has been viewed by thousands of people on social media, with many criticising the boys’ behaviour.
In a shocking moment toward the end of the clip, the youths appear to circle their victim and repeatedly kick him in the head
One person described their behaviour as ‘disgusting’, while another said they were ‘wrong, very wrong’.
Another said: ‘I would be ashamed if it was my children, I would report them to the police myself, this kind of behaviour is just not necessary’.
A fourth said: ‘Wild and utterly shocking behaviour’.
MailOnline has contacted Northumbria Police for further comment.
