Moment crazed monster truck driver crushes cars and people at ‘Rednecks with Paychecks’ event

Video footage captured the moment a crazed truck driver crashed unsuspecting cars and injured people during the annual “Rednecks with Paychecks” rally in Saint Jo, Texas.

Jonathan Earl Reid, 36, of Crockett, faces five charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the shocking Sept. 21 incident.

According to witness accounts, the terrifying ordeal began when Reid got into a verbal altercation with several individuals after attacking a UTV.

The situation quickly escalated when Reid reportedly stated, “If the vehicle doesn’t have a five-foot flag, I can hit it.” KFDX/KJTL reported.

Witnesses described a horrific scene when Reid allegedly put his monster truck in reverse, crashing into nearby vehicles before shifting into drive and rapidly accelerating.

Angry attendees reportedly began throwing rocks and beer cans at Reid’s vehicle, causing him to use the massive monster truck to run over other vehicles and people.

The massive vehicle then hit a Jeep SUV and rolled over it as people rushed to escape its path.

Reid reportedly continued his rampage, crashing another UTV and punching victims.

A total of five victims were identified, ranging in age from 26 to 67 and from Kansas, Texas and New Mexico, police told the newspaper.

Two of the victims had to be hospitalized. Their current condition is unclear at this time.

The incident caused panic among the crowd, with a 911 caller initially believing one person had been killed, although authorities have not confirmed any deaths.

Event security managed to detain Reid before police arrived on the scene.

Police collected at least 21 written statements from witnesses, many of whom identified Reid as the perpetrator.

The Montague County Sheriff’s Office reports that Reid was booked into jail early Saturday morning but was released that same evening after posting bonds totaling $200,000.
