This is the unnerving moment when a crane crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge, bursting a steel beam as shocked locals captured the incident.
The ship hit the iconic New York City bridge at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, causing a fracture in the bottom structure. But engineers said it caused no structural damage.
The boat was carrying a crane when it hit the side of the landmark.
Michelle Krupa of the Coast Guard Operations Unit said: “A crane barge passed under the bridge and a crane hit a rail system under the bridge for maintenance.”

Speaking of the damage, she said, “No serious damage, it looked like some damage to the rail system.”
The FDNY also confirmed that there was no structural or integrity damage to the suspension bridge.
No one was injured in the ordeal and the bridge is still open to the public.
Officials are still investigating the situation.
After seeing the creepy video, a NYC resident wrote, “I’ll be skipping that route until further notice.”

A fourth person added, “How on earth does this happen, those fools should be extra careful with situations like this, especially if you’re driving a crane boat.”
Others made fun of the situation.
“That skipper needs to get his crane-ium examined,” one joked, while another said, “Dumb-o has a new meaning.”
A local New Yorker said, “All I know is I’m not crossing the Brooklyn Bridge until further inspection…..”
