Video filmed by a fan showed Antonella Petro being followed by a young woman as they quickly left their section at Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez in Barranquilla on Thursday evening.
The crowd could clearly be heard chanting “Fuera Petro” (“Fire Petro”) at the president’s teenage daughter, preventing her from staying until the end of Colombia’s 2-1 win over Brazil.

A third video shows a security team escorting Antonella Petro out of the stadium as a young boy puts his arm around her to comfort her.
President Petro, who is attending the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in California, came to the defense of the youngest of his five children and accused fans of serenading his child with shouts of opponents of his government.
‘Cowards. My 15 year old daughter had to leave the stadium in Barranquilla,” he wrote on X. “They turned the opposition chant against her, a female minor. Cowards.’

Sofia Petro, the president’s eldest daughter, called on fans to let go of their anger and focus their energy on cheering on her sister, a big fan of the sport who dreams of one day playing on the women’s national team.
‘Antonella fills every space she is in with light. Even the hatred those people carry in her heart cannot deter her,” she wrote on X.
“I wish they find peace. If we can’t watch a football match next to someone who thinks differently, we’re screwed… I hope they manage to make that darkness disappear before they have to applaud Antonella when she’s the one scoring goals on the pitch.’
The incident came just two days after a W Radio/Datexco poll showed that 64 percent of Colombians disapproved of President Petro.
Political analyst Pedro Viveros told Noticias Caracol that the fan reaction was not aimed at the president’s daughter.
“I think it is the mixture of emotions for Lucho Díaz and his father, for Brazil, and of course the disillusionment that exists with the president’s government, which is also reflected in the investigations.”
