Doorbell CCTV footage captured the shocking moment when a home roof exploded from a gas leak in Indiana, hospitalizing two people.

The Princeton home, which has been split into apartments, exploded seemingly out of nowhere around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday as its roof split in two and fell down the sides of the multi-family home.

Two of the four residents have been hospitalized and their names have not yet been released.

One of them would be the handyman, who was working on the heating in the house when it exploded 14 News.

Resident Diaghman Gibson, who was not home at the time of the explosion, said he was “awakened by the smell of gas.”

“Something told me to leave,” he told 14 News. “So I got up and got ready, talked to the maintenance man, told him I was leaving and to shut up when they were done.”

Neighbors said they smelled natural gas in the area before and after the explosion. Center Point and Duke Energy cut holes in the ground on site

Neighbors said they smelled natural gas nearby and could still smell it after the explosion.

Center Point and Duke Energy saw holes dug in the ground on site, according to 14 News.

Photos posted online by neighbor Mackenzie Vincent showed the burned inside of the roof lying in a crumpled heap between their houses.

Resident Diaghman Gibson (left), who was not home at the time of the explosion, said he ‘woke up to the smell of gas’. “Something told me to go,” he said. Tesia Crumbaugh, (right) who was at work when the explosion happened, said she lost fond memories, including the ashes of deceased relatives

The rest of the house was left standing, and Vincent’s house had only “cosmetic damage.”

“I was at work and my sister called me and told me the house next to mine was on fire,” Vincent told 14 News. “So I ran here to walk my dogs. So we’re all squashed in the car.’

Despite Vincent escaping unharmed, home resident Tesia Crumbaugh, who was at work when the explosion occurred, said she lost fond memories, including the ashes of deceased relatives.

“We’ve lost some loved ones over the years, and the stuff that’s not replaceable was up there, so that hits pretty hard,” she told 14 News.

Residents have been transferred to the Salvation Army for housing.
