Detective Sergeant Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘This case shows the kind of violent behavior our officers unfortunately regularly experience.

“I am pleased that Johnson was swiftly dealt with and jailed for his totally unacceptable behaviour.

“We will not tolerate violence against women or attacks on officers who simply work to protect the public.

“We don’t expect our officers, or other first responders, to be attacked while doing their job.

“The police will not hesitate to take action against those suspected of assaulting a social worker.

“Johnson was jailed within two days of the incident and I hope this sends a clear signal that violent offenders will be brought to justice quickly and vigorously.

“Fortunately, the officers suffered only relatively minor injuries, but they were understandably very shaken by the incident.”
